Cafe corner paving
Widening pavements and building a walkway around Plimmerton’s coastline gave the opportunity to widen the pavement around the shops and create an outdoor seating area for patrons of cafes and restaurants in the area. This paved area was completed in 2008 with a galvanised fence to define the area and make it safer. This fence was designed by local landscape architect Linda Kerkmeester who created the reed and flax theme as a nod to The Taupo Stream which once ran through here to the sea. This corner is packed with diners and coffee drinkers most days of the week and has become the new village centre.
