Taupō Crescent reserve

Residents working with Porirua City Council’s village programme team have revitalised an old playground over three years. What was a disused area is now a humming community space.

A landscape plan was commissioned from a local landscape designer and was approved. Residents then held working bees to clear the space and begin planting to the plan. Local children worked with artist Rachel Benefield to create a vibrant mural for the space.  Playground equipment was upgraded. Plans were developed for a hillside slide and funding sought for this from THF. A picnic table was installed and other enhancements made including fencing, signage and permanent painted games like chess and hopscotch were added.
