Planting in Taupo Cres Community Space Sunday 23 September
Massive thanks to local resident and community superstar Leo Smith of Nature School NZ who is organising a planting day in James Street/Mo Street and Taupo Crescent during Conservation Week. Leo has sourced trees from an organisation called Trees That Count, which is building a movement to help New Zealand to plant more native trees https://www.treesthatcount.co.nz/
Leo is liaising with Porirua City Council’s (PCC) parks team and other agencies for botanical advice and support on the day. A bbq is being arranged for volunteers who turn up to help.
Want to get your wellies wet and have some family fun time? Report to St Theresa’s School field at 12pm on 23 September. You will be planting trees and shrubs you will be able to enjoy for years. More details at: https://www.facebook.com/events/837641959768984/
The rejuvenation of Taupo Crescent community space and play area has been a community effort assisted greatly by funding from Trust House, Porirua City Council’s Village Planning programme and Plimmerton Residents’ Association.
Many thanks to those organisations and volunteers who have helped, and continue to help, to redevelop this community green space.
