Heritage and environmental rail underpass murals

Students from Plimmerton School worked with local historians, photographs, books and paintings to create a series of murals reflecting Plimmerton’s past. At a later date students worked with environmental groups here to complete a series of murals titled bring back the birds. This recognised the efforts of groups like Pest Free Plimmerton, the Menzshed, Friends of Mana Island, Friends of the Taupo Swamp and Catchment,  Guardians of the Pauatahanui Inlet and others.

Plimmerton Resident’s association was supported by PCC’s village programme director and Ian Harwood from PRA. Artist and educator Rachel Benefield led this project.
